Meeting the Bullet Tree Community - 6/16

By Jessica:

On Sunday, we got up bright and early at 7:30 and did our daily morning prayer together as a community in the chapel.  After prayer we went to the kitchen and had a "silent breakfast."  No one spoke the entire meal except Ms. Redford who read aloud letters Mother Theresa wrote, which was very inspiring.  Hearing the readings about love really set the tone for our day.  We ate fry jacks for breakfast with eggs and beans (very delicious)!  We went to Mass and met a very adorable boy who shook everyone's hands.  He was so sweet!  We also took more pictures with Fr. Lorenzo and his mother at Sacred Heart Church.  He was very welcoming to all of us and I was struck by the entire community's hospitality and love towards us.  They were all so sincere and caring, especially the children we met in Bullet Tree Falls later that day.  They embraced us and were ready to show us their village and school.  The showed us a beautiful river and we attempted to skip rocks!  We also played with some girls on the playground who were very sweet and excited to play with us.  Interacting with the kids made me a lot less nervous for my first day of teaching tomorrow and I can't wait to start!

See ya soon Mommy and Daddy!
Love, Jessica
